Privacy Policy.
Plain English version: your data is yours. We never sell it. You can export or delete it anytime.
What follows is the long version, written so a real person can read it.
1. Who this applies to
This Privacy Policy describes how mypooch.ai (“we,” “us,” “the app”) collects, uses, and protects information about you and your dog when you use our website, mobile-web app, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
If you don’t agree with this policy, please don’t use the Service.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us directly
- Account information: name, email address, password, and (optionally) a phone number.
- Dog profile data: name, breed, age, sex, weight, health conditions, behavior flags, diet, environment, and your training goals.
- Check-in content: text descriptions of your dog’s behavior, energy ratings, mood notes, and (on Premium) short video clips you upload.
- Health timeline: vet visits, vaccinations, medications, dental work, weight checks, and any other care events you log.
- Communications: emails or support requests you send us.
- Payment information: for paid plans, billing data is collected by our payment processor — we don’t store your full card number on our servers.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages viewed, features used, check-in frequency, time spent in the app.
- Device data: browser type, operating system, IP address (used for security and analytics).
- Cookies and local storage: see the Cookies section below.
Information from Pros (service providers)
If you sign up for the Pro tier, we also collect your business name, address, credentials, services offered, pricing, photos, and any credentials or certifications you choose to share publicly on your profile (license numbers, certifications). Your Pro profile is publicly visible in the Service Provider Directory.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Run the Service: generate AI check-ins, drill recommendations, exercise plans, product picks, and other personalized output.
- Improve the Service: understand how features are used so we can fix bugs and add capabilities.
- Communicate with you: respond to support requests, send transactional emails (receipts, account notices), and — only with your permission — occasional product updates.
- Bill paid accounts: process subscriptions and renewals through our payment processor.
- Detect abuse: identify and stop fraud, security incidents, and misuse of the Service.
- Comply with the law: respond to lawful requests, enforce our Terms.
4. AI processing
When you submit a check-in (text or video), your input is sent to an AI model that returns a behavioral read, mood tags, and a daily plan. This processing happens through third-party AI providers — specifically large language model providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic — under contracts that prohibit them from using your data to train their public models.
What gets sent to AI providers: the text or video you submit in a check-in, plus the relevant context from your dog’s profile (breed, age, health flags, recent history) needed to generate a personalized read. Your identity (name, email, payment info) is not sent.
Video retention: uploaded videos are processed by the AI and stored on your behalf in the Progress Timeline. You can delete any video at any time from your account.
AI limitations: the AI gives behavioral and educational reads. It is not a veterinary diagnosis. See our Veterinary Disclaimer.
AI safeguards & reporting harmful output
The AI is prompted with guardrails to defer to a licensed veterinarian for medical questions, to a certified behaviorist for aggression and bite cases, and to call out emergencies clearly. It also avoids producing aversive-training advice and avoids generating output about humans, other species, or topics outside dog behavior and care.
If you encounter AI output that is harmful, inaccurate, or inappropriate — anything that recommends an unsafe action, contradicts standard veterinary guidance, or feels off — please report it. Inside the app, use the “Report this read” link on any check-in or PetGPT response. From outside the app, email us at support@mypooch.ai with a screenshot or copy of the output and your dog’s profile context. We investigate every credible report and adjust our guardrails when needed.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information or your dog’s data. Ever.
We share data only with:
- Service providers we use to run the app: hosting (Base44), AI model providers, payment processors, email delivery, analytics. Each one is bound by contract to use your data only to provide their service to us.
- Pros you connect with: if you choose to connect your dog’s profile with a Pro on the Service, they get access to your dog’s data so they can help you. You can revoke that access at any time.
- Legal requirements: when we’re legally required to disclose information (subpoena, court order, lawful government request). We’ll push back on overbroad requests where appropriate.
- A business transfer: if mypooch.ai is acquired or merges with another company, your data may transfer with it — but the new owner is bound by this policy or one at least as protective.
6. How we protect it
We take reasonable security measures to protect your information:
- Data encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest where supported by our hosting provider.
- Access to user data on our team is role-based and audited.
- Payment data is handled by PCI-compliant processors; we don’t store full card numbers.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever experience a breach affecting your data, we’ll notify you and take corrective action.
7. How long we keep your data
- Active accounts: we keep your data for as long as your account is active.
- Deleted accounts: when you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., tax records).
- Backups: deleted data may persist in backups for up to 90 days before being fully purged.
8. Your rights
No matter where you live, you can:
- Access the information we hold about you.
- Export your dog’s profile, check-ins, and history in a portable format.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Opt out of marketing emails (transactional emails like receipts will still come).
EU/UK residents have additional rights under GDPR including objection to processing, restriction of processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. California residents have rights under CCPA including the right to know what we collect and to opt out of any “sale” (though again — we don’t sell data).
To exercise any right, email us at support@mypooch.ai.
How to delete your account
You have two ways to permanently delete your mypooch.ai account and all associated data:
- Inside the app: open Settings → Account → Delete Account. Confirm the prompt. Your account is queued for deletion immediately.
- From outside the app (if you no longer have access to your device or the app is uninstalled): email support@mypooch.ai from the email address on the account with the subject line “Delete my account”. We’ll confirm your identity and process the deletion within 5 business days.
What gets deleted: your account, dog profile(s), check-in history, uploaded videos, health timeline, and any AI-generated content tied to your account. What stays: minimal records we’re required to retain by law (e.g., tax/billing records for paid subscribers — anonymized where possible).
Timeline: active personal data is deleted or anonymized within 30 days. Backups are purged within 90 days.
This page (mypooch.ai/privacy/#delete-account) serves as the public web URL for account deletion requests.
9. Children’s privacy
mypooch.ai is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or 16 in some jurisdictions). If you believe we’ve collected information from a child, contact us and we’ll delete it.
10. International users
We operate from the United States. If you’re accessing the Service from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using the Service, you consent to that transfer.
11. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small set of cookies and local-storage items to:
- Keep you signed in across visits.
- Remember your preferences (e.g., which dog profile is active).
- Measure how the Service is used (privacy-respecting analytics).
We don’t use cross-site advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some features won’t work without them.
12. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we’ll notify you by email (if you have an account) and update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
